“Autumn’s decade-long experience in grad school admissions gave me clarity on the admissions process, creativity in my self-presentation, and confidence in my ability to gain acceptance into my dream school.”
Sarah M. (Applicant)

I started GradMissions for the students I used to teach, the applicants I used to admit, and my five kids who remind me every day that the future is worth investing in.
Before founding this company, I served as a dean of admissions and personally reviewed more than 25,000 applications. That experience taught me two things:
First, great applicants are built, not born—and second, most students are flying blind through a process that rewards clarity, structure, and storytelling.
THAT'S WHERE I COME IN.
As a lifelong writer, I love helping students uncover the personal narratives that set them apart.

I always thought I’d grow up to be a writer—turns out, I did. My GradMissions clients trust me with the most personal stories of the lives and let me help shape them into the future doctors, lawyers, and leaders we all need. It’s the privilege of a lifetime.

MEET THE TEAM

Lizanne Carlson knows that no two paths to law school—and beyond—look the same. A seasoned attorney and passionate mentor, she brings calm, clarity, and a sharp legal mind to every student she supports. At GradMissions, Lizanne helps future lawyers build standout applications while staying grounded in what matters most: authenticity, strategy, and real, lasting confidence.
Thanks to her husband’s military career, Lizanne has practiced law across the country and in a wide range of fields—an experience that’s gifted her not only a thousand frequent flyer miles, but also a deep appreciation for the power of flexibility, grit, and knowing your why. She’s on a mission to help students discover theirs.
When she’s not reviewing résumés or mapping out the perfect personal statement arc, Lizanne is chasing after her four daughters, sipping iced coffee year-round (team cold brew forever), or salvaging the next great roadside furniture find. Her style is classic southern meets clean minimalism, and she swears her ten-year-old JCrew Factory staples still do most of the heavy lifting.
Lizanne’s greatest joy? Talking to future attorneys about their dreams—and helping them navigate every twist, turn, and surprise along the way.

Logan Lockhart is equal parts strategist, storyteller, and spreadsheet enthusiast. With over 15 years of experience in higher education, she brings deep insight, unwavering calm, and just the right amount of sparkle to the med school Match process. At GradMissions, Logan leads our residency advising with empathy, precision, and a gift for turning chaos into clarity.
She’s known for her thoroughness (she once spent $80 on paint swatches to find the perfect shade of nursery pink) and her ability to see patterns where others see panic. Whether she’s helping students plan a rank list or polish their ERAS essays, Logan approaches every step with intention, warmth, and a coach’s eye for what’s possible.
Her style is classic and casual—like her go-to drink: peach sparkling water with a splash of blueberry lemonade, nugget ice required. She’s grounded by the realities of managing copious dog hair and inspired by a career that, while it may look accidental from the outside, is actually a carefully layered legacy of saying yes to meaningful work.
And if you ever need a fun fact for your next icebreaker? Her husband was on a reality show in the mid-2000s. But she’s the real star of the family.

Samantha brings years of experience from fast-paced Congressional offices and campaign teams, where she coordinated demanding schedules, managed heavy inbox traffic, supported constituent services, and ran an internship program with precision. Guiding visitors on tours of the Capitol building quickly became her favorite part of the job, and she earned a quiet reputation for making a complex place feel understandable and welcoming.
Samantha plays a central role in sustaining GradMissions’ clarity and care during the most demanding admissions cycles. She brings organization, steadiness, and thoughtfulness to every interaction as she supports the next generation of future doctors and lawyers.
Outside of work, Samantha enjoys spending time with her husband and their two cats, Lily and Sterling, unwinds through embroidery, and consumes everything Star Wars. She’s a proud lover of the color pink, keeps a Kiwi Strawberry Vitamin Water close by, and embraces a “boujee on a budget” aesthetic, especially when it involves a great thrift find. A fun fact people are often surprised to learn? Her name is Sam, and her initials are S.A.M.

Morgan knows careers rarely unfold in neat lines. She has spent years on the inside of big law recruiting, associate development, law school career offices, and corporate client teams. She has seen how decisions really get made and understands the space where preparation meets timing.
At GradMissions, Morgan helps people get out of their own way. She reads people easily and meets them where they are, whether they're harboring nervous energy, big ambition, or quiet doubt (and sometimes all three at once!). She spots it fast and steadies the room. Her background in etiquette, negotiation, and storytelling gives predictable structure to moments that feel overwhelming. Clients leave conversations with her feeling clearer and more grounded.
Morgan listens closely. She asks smart questions and keeps track of details so clients don't have to struggle alone. Trust forms naturally around her because she treats goals as personal and worth protecting.
When she is not mapping timelines or refining strategy, Morgan is likely hosting something elegant with effortless ease, planning her next beach vacation, or trying out new culinary recipes for her friends and family.
When future doctors and lawyers feel pressure from the high stakes of the application cycle, Morgan is calm and capable. She's already thinking ahead and never rushes anyone to find their destination.

Lori Stevens, combination educator and imagineer, believes the magic of learning doesn't just happen—it's designed. With more than two decades as a curriculum designer and learning experience facilitator in higher education, she brings expertise honed through experience and
ingenuity fueled by curiosity to everything she builds at GradMissions. Lori leads curriculum training and development with a deep love of learning, a coach's mindset, and an eye for how all the pieces connect.
With a strong appreciation for carrying out a theme (bordering on obsession) and an eye for details, Lori curates content to guide GradMissions clients seamlessly through the admissions process. She's on a mission to help students discover their unique strengths and apply them to meet the world's deepest needs.
As an architect of meaningful moments, her love of storytelling, spreadsheets, and pixie dust shows up everywhere—from meticulously planned Disney trips to celebrating obscure holidays with her husband and son. Strategically placed whoopie cushions and dad jokes secretly slipped into pockets for National Let's Laugh Day? Of course. Friends willing to come in full costume for birthday parties? Yes, please! Lori knows that the smallest details—the ones most people overlook—are often where the real magic lives.

Growing up in Portland, Oregon, Kaitlin didn't have doctors in her family or a clear roadmap to medicine. What she had was curiosity, a passion for biology, and a desire to advocate for people through her work. She earned her biology degree from Harvard in 2023 while captaining the Division I softball team, but medicine did not pique her interest until her senior year, leaving her with a decidedly non-traditional route to medical school.
After college, she moved to New York City and joined Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center's Integrative Medicine Service, first as a Clinical Research Coordinator and eventually as a Research Associate. Over three years, she accumulated clinical and shadowing experience, took the MCAT, and put the finishing touches on her medical school prerequisites. It was a long and transformative road that taught her just as much about herself as it did about becoming a medical student. This fall, she’ll head to Yale School of Medicine.
At GradMissions, she works with premeds who are somewhere in that same in-between—figuring out their path, building their application, and finding the best words for their unique, unforgettable stories. Having navigated the process without a blueprint, she has a lot of patience for the winding road and cherishes the opportunity to mentor students who, like her, are building toward their dreams of becoming doctors.
Outside of her work, you can typically find her out for a run or swim, exploring new coffee shops, or enjoying the fact that New Haven is a little quieter than New York.

Rachel applied to law school knowing that laws have the power to impact the lives of real people. An alumna of Columbine High School, she became passionate about gun violence prevention and carried this work throughout her time at the University of Colorado Boulder. As a double major with degrees in political science and math, Rachel brings an analytical approach to the law that centers around finding unique solutions.
After graduating, she became the traveling assistant to former U.S. Congresswoman Gabby Giffords, spending half of her time on the road meeting with legislators, communities, and decision-makers. Rachel juggled the demands of a full time position with fast-paced logistics while taking practice LSATs on planes and brainstorming essays during breaks between meetings on Capitol Hill.
At Gradmissions, Rachel helps aspiring lawyers who were in her shoes a year ago find their “why law” and turn passion for change into a tangible strategy. She knows how important it is to craft a narrative that showcases every side of an applicant– in her case: math, policy, and her favorite coffee shops in Tucson, AZ, all of which were essays she submitted to law schools.
As a 1L at Yale Law School this Fall, she hopes to adequately judge all of the infamous New Haven pizza places and to bring back the “social climbers” rock climbing club.

Connie is a lifelong academic who loves learning, the transformative power of education, and helping people tell compelling stories. She has lived all across the country and worn many hats. She grew up in Ohio wanting to become a doctor, then pivoted to a career in academia after graduate school in Arizona. Her path later took her through universities in Nebraska and Ohio before she landed in Oklahoma. Along the way, Connie taught thousands of students and balanced academic life with long shifts as a bartender and time as a part-time radio disc jockey.
Connie nerds out on efficiency and precision. A day of perfectly timed and routed errands while drinking an icy Diet Coke is her happy place. She loves editing a 500-word essay until every critical and compelling point fits exactly where it belongs. Green is her favorite color. She loves all flowers and any body of water. Most of all, Connie truly enjoys meeting clients, learning their unique stories, and translating them into persuasive essays.
When Connie is not teaching, researching, or writing, she spends time with her two adult children in her quiet house with two cats. She also enjoys an occasional happy hour with friends while sipping a perfectly crafted cocktail.

Emily is a genetic counselor who speaks fluent cancer genes, counseling strategies, and coffee -- though these days she’s just as likely to be sipping a perfectly frothed matcha as an espresso. She trained at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry, where she earned the Outstanding Graduate award (and the ability to withstand lake-effect snowstorms), before returning home to open her own private practice. At GradMissions, Emily helps future healthcare providers write their applications with creativity, compassion and excitement.
Emily has worked with patients across the lifespan, helping demystify complex testing decisions through compassionate, evidence-based care. She has presented her research on international stages and in peer-reviewed publications, somehow making “gnomAD” and genetics guidelines into real‐world issues instead of alphabet soup.
Emily is a long‐time mental health and disability inclusion advocate, bringing her curious and kind energy to every counseling session she leads. Emily cares deeply about the humanity of her patients, and she’s committed to helping the next generation of healthcare providers find and share the soul behind their future practice.
When she’s not decoding test results, Emily is probably curled up with a good book, planning her next trip, happily lost in a crochet project, or being thoroughly ignored by her two cats, who remain unimpressed by both her clinical hours and her carefully whisked matcha.

Ryan Chapman knows how to make people care about a story in a tight word count.
As a journalist and co-publisher for Oklahoma Sooners On SI, co-host of The Franchise Morning Show, and a beloved celebrity in the Oklahoma sports scene, he has spent years covering high-stakes moments across football, basketball, softball, and more. Ryan finds the human thread in every chaotic game, shining a light on the athletes who achieve the spectacular through years of hard work and dedication.
At GradMissions, Ryan brings that same instinct to secondary and supplemental essays. He works with applicants to sharpen their voice, tighten their narrative, and turn competent writing into something that actually sounds like a person worth admitting (with scholarship!). He is especially skilled at finding the one sentence that makes a reader sit up and making sure it is not buried on page two.
Ryan is a lifelong sports fan, a natural storyteller, and the reason our secondary essays no longer read like secondaries.
