The process of applying to medical school and law school is entirely different from:
Applying to undergraduate programs
Applying to other graduate programs
The way it worked two decades ago (or even a few years ago!)
The process is complex, nuanced, and high-stakes.
The return-on-investment from a strong application is exponential. It goes beyond getting in. It’s also about making their application so strong they get multiple offers and scholarships.
We’re here to support your student and you.
As a parent or partner, you are the person standing behind your student.
You may be a parent, a grandparent, a romantic partner, or even oversee your student’s trust. Whatever your role, you care deeply about your student’s future, and you're investing your time, energy, and resources to help them reach it.
You may have been sent this website, and you’re wondering what we’re about and if we’ll provide any value to your student’s application to law school or med school. You’re right to be skeptical. There are a lot of “coaches” out there who don’t know their stuff.
This page is designed just for you. We'll answer your questions and to show you how GradMissions can provide clarity, guidance, and an ROI to high-stakes application processes.
Whether your student dreams of white coat ceremonies to law school convocations, we take their dream and work backward. At GradMissions, we develop actionable, strategic steps that will lead your student from now until that goal is reached.
We work with students who are just finishing high school all the way to their third year of medical school. When your student is ready for additional support, we’re here to help them…and you!
Our founder, Autumn Lockett, is the former Dean of Admissions at both a law school and medical school.
In her days as a gatekeeper, Autumn personally reviewed more than 25,000 applications.
Not only is she the founder of GradMissions, she’s also a thought leader and adviser to a number of institutions throughout the country who come to her for strategy and solutions to refine their admissions strategies.

This call is your foundation. It’s the base from which you launch into the Admissions Accelerator or the Curated Application Experience. During this call, Autumn will:
Learn about your student’s goals, where they are now, and begin mapping out how to connect the two.
Ask about your student’s specific interests. Is it neurology? Patent law? We want to know what they love and why.
Conduct a grade checkup. How’s your student’s GPA? Any hurdles we need to work together to overcome? Any classes they loved?
This 60-Minute intensive is all about getting to know your student better so we can make a gameplan that works.
The Admissions Accelerator gives you a strong foundation to start the process at a lower investment. If you’re interested in additional support once you’ve completed the Admissions Accelerator, you can move on to the Elevated Advisory option.
During the Admissions Accelerator, we do:

Admissions Commitment
Not accepted to law or med school? Not a problem. We’re committed until you’re admitted.
Your student has great grades, stellar test scores, and does all the extracurricular activities. (You should know. After all, you were the one who shuttled them to early-morning marching band practice and weekend service projects). But here’s the problem: those achievements are the floor, not the differentiator when it comes to high-stakes applications.
Every year, med and law schools receive thousands of applications from: valedictorians, National Merit finalists, robotics champions, debate captains, nonprofit founders, and varsity captains. Some applicants are all of these at once – and still get rejected.
If your student wants to get noticed by the top schools and the best scholarships, they have to differentiate themselves. And that only happens through a combination of:
Applications start about a year in advance. Miss a deadline, and it’s a lost cycle. No exceptions.
At this level, not any science or poli-sci class will do. Schools scrutinize which classes were taken when, and how they align with MCAT/LSAT prep.
Med and law schools want proof your student understands the world they’re about to enter, and has already started showing up in it.
Med: Clinical hours. Real patient contact. Ethical exposure.
Law: Legal internships, writing samples, issue fluency that demonstrate commitment through action.
Personal statements must be cohesive, reflective, and distinctive. One flat or unfocused essay can sink an otherwise strong applicant.
A note on AI: Top med schools and law schools use 15 different AI flagging filters. At GradMissions, we use those same filters on all our students’ written products. We often see first drafts that are 100% flagged as AI. If those materials had been submitted in applications to schools, the students would have immediately been removed from consideration.
Letters of recommendation in this process cannot be generic. Schools want evidence of maturity, purpose, and fit. If students are developing meaningful relationships with the right mentors at the right time, the resulting letters won’t cut it.
Did your grandmother play golf once with the governor, and he or she has agreed to write you a letter of recommendation? Unless that governor knows you well enough to write a meaningful letter about you, the letter writer’s rank doesn’t matter.
Knowing which schools to apply to and why, based on values, fit, and long-term goals.
On average, pre-law and pre-med students get 17 minutes per semester with an advisor. These meetings are about class schedules, not strategy.
1:1 coaching tailored to strategically guide you to success every semester and milestone.
School advisors are ethically required to give every student the same advice. That means an entire class of applicants ends up doing the exact same things – the same timelines, the same talking points, the same overused strategies.
We give custom, client-specific guidance because your student isn’t like everyone else.
Admissions Officers’ responsibility is to their institutions, not to you.
We’re allowed to tell you things they can’t. Our only allegiance is to your student’s success. Not to an institution.
Privacy laws prevent most colleges from speaking to parents.
We communicate directly with families when needed. You’re in the loop.
A vague, overwhelming goal with no clear starting point.
A step-by-step plan, semester by semester, with clear goals and next steps.
Missed deadlines, rushed essays, and lost opportunities can cost an entire year.
The med and law admissions process is full of hidden sub-deadlines and multi-step requirements that most students don’t realize until it’s too late.
A customized timeline that accounts for the fine print. We know the fine print, the sub-deadlines, and the pitfalls most students don’t see coming. Your student won’t be scrambling at the last minute.
Many admissions coaches are current students, alumni from years ago, or big-box firms with no real insight.
Autumn is a former gatekeeper and a sought-after advisor to the very med and law schools your student is applying to.
Most coaching firms specialize in law or med, not both.
Dual expertise in both med and law is rare and crucial. If a pre-med student decides medicine isn’t for them, they’re statistically most likely to pivot to law. Because Autumn is an expert in both admissions processes, we don’t just pivot – we help your student reframe their story, adjust their plan, and stay competitive without losing time.

In this process, you don’t know what you don’t know. And not knowing can cost your student time, money, or even their seat. We’re here to make sure that doesn’t happen.
“Thanks to Autumn, my husband and I avoided the conflict of constantly reminding our son of deadlines and nudging him along the application path. She helped our son strategize his shadowing hours and extracurriculars to really stand out and she kept him on a strict timeline for MCAT prep and the application cycle. Our son was admitted to his first choice school with a scholarship!”

“More than once I panicked at weird hours with a question I was sure would derail everything. Autumn was there, every time. Just knowing I had that support made me braver and better at every step.”

Because the data says it matters.
Students perform significantly better on the MCAT after completing biochemistry. Unfortunately, even some of the most prestigious undergraduate pre-med programs in the country have their students take biochemistry during their senior year, forcing students to choose between a gap year or testing underprepared.
We’ve seen the numbers. It’s not worth the risk. That’s why we require our students to take biochemistry before taking the MCAT…even if that means adjusting the timeline.
Yes. At GradMissions, we’re serious about accommodations.
Neurodiversity and accommodations are a core part of how we support students. Autumn specializes in this area and has deep experience helping students navigate accommodations for the MCAT, LSAT, and beyond.
No. And no one ethical should.
While we can’t guarantee admission, here’s what we can tell you. First, 100% of our students in the 2025 admissions cycle were admitted to at least one school in their top 10. Second, our clients are with us until they are admitted. We’re with you for the long haul at no additional cost.
